We investigated abnormality in the position of ipsilateral scapulae, compared with contralateral scapulae, in 106 patients with disorders of the shoulder. Its abnormal position was recognized in 45 percent of all patients, and there was no difference of the frequency in each disease.
In 53 postoperative patients, cases with its abnormal position had a tendency to have a low activity in daily living and a low points in the J. O. A. score. The present study suggests that abnormal position of the scapulae shows low capaity in function of the shoulder.
