Abstract
A human rhabdomyosarcoma cell line was established from a calf tumor found in a 19-year-old woman. The diagnosis of rhabdomyosarcoma depended on the ultrastructural features of the presence of abundant intermediate filaments and the aggregation of glycogen granules.
The cultured cell were oval with granular cytoplasm, with a population doubling time of 32 hours. Myogenic markers were clearly shown in the cytoplasm of the cultured cells by enzymeimmunohistochemistry.
This cell line seems to be useful as a model for the study on the muscle metabolism and chemotherapy.
