123 patients were treated with a lateral wedged insole for their gonarthrosis between 1986 and 1990. Of these cases, 47 knees had high tibial interlocking wedge osteotomy and 2 knees had total knee replacement (TKR). They were followed-up for a period of more than three months. They were assessed using an original questionnaire and roentgenograms.
81% of the patients had conservative treatment and 55% of the patients treated with osteotomy and TKR had satisfactory results using a wedged insole. But, we could not guess at the effectiveness of the wedged insole by assessing their roentgenograms.
