Forty six knees in 36 patients with Osgod-Shlatter desease were treated conservatively and followed for an average of 2 years 9 months (range; 8 months to 4 years 9 months). Patients included 29 males and 7 females ranging in age from 9 to 14 years (mean 12.3 years). Retrospective studies investigating physical activity and radiographic changes were performed.
Pain relief and recovery period from this disease was much shorter in patients who stopped physical activity.
Patients who had radiographic evidences of a tibial tuberosity suffered from this disease for a longer period than those patients without such deformities.
