It is well known that lumbar herniated nucleus pulposus disappears. However, there exists no such report for thoracic disc herniation. We experienced a case of spontaneous regression of thoracic disc herniation.
The subject was 25-year-old female. She had right shoulder pain and numbness of the right ulnar upper extremity. MRI showed disc herniation in T1/2, that was enhanced circumferentially by Gd-DTPA enhanced MRI. The shoulder pain and numbness reduced gradually at 1 month after the onset, and disappeared at 2 months. On MRI, the herniation diminished in size at 11 weeks after the onset and more or less disappeared at 4 months.
