1. The kinds of carbohydrates in the pith of Japanese yellow rose (Kerria japonica DC.) were studied (See Table 2).
2. α-Cellulose and heinicellulose were isolated, and the latter was devided into the cold 5% NaOH soluble polysaccharide and the γ-cellulose fraction. Both hemicellulose were a kind of glucoxylan, i.e. the cold 5% NaOH soluble polysaccharide was glucose: xylose=1:35_??_36 in mol. xatio, the γ-cellulose fraction was glucose: xylose=1:6.
