A case of a large tonsillar cyst that developed in a 48-year-old female who had repeated acute inflammation of the tonsils and of the pharynx in the past was reported. The author described the clinical course and pathological findings which indicated that the cyst was a retention cyst developed in the fossa tonsillaris superior probably due to inflammation.
