抄録

The (100), (110) and (111) surfaces of 70.2 mol % TICI-TIBr mixed crystals are etched chemi-cally or thermally under various conditions, and the light figures and the structures of etched surfaces revealed are observed. Chemical etching produces insoluble films on crystal surfaces and thus reveals no light figure. Distinct light figures suitable for the orientation work are ob-tained by thermal etching at 300°C for 36 hours in air. Corresponding to the forms of light figures, the etch pits of regular shapes surrounded by the (100) and (110) faces are observed on the etched surfaces, indicating that crystal faces with the said indices are developed. Thermal etching at 350°C for 15 minutes in a vacuum of 10-4_??_10-6 mmHg reveals relatively clear light figures, which are caused by the development of (100), (110), (111) and (944) faces, although the corresponding etched structures show complicated patterns.
