When the discharging current and the thermally-stimulated current (TSC) of iodine (I2)-doped low density polyethylene (LDPE) were investigated, an anomalous discharging current and a reversal TSC flowing in the same direction as the charging current were found to appear. The anomalous discharging current and the reversal TSC are associated with an iodination of electrode at the I2-doped LDPE-electrode interface and their origin lies on the cathode side. We therefore suggest that they are due to electrons injected from the cathode through the formation of an iodination layer. Namely, the anomalous discharging current and the reversal TSC could be qualitatively explained in terms of injected homo space charge and a blocking nature of I2-doped LDPE-cathode interface.
