Effects of the following three organophosphorus insecticides were tested against the German cockroach, Blattella germanica L., in four restaurants in Shizuoka during the summer of 1988: 1) 10% fenitrothion EC diluted to 20-fold (Fe-20); 2) mixed EC of 3% propetamphos and 2% dichlorvos diluted to 10-fold (Pr-10) and 15-fold (Pr-15); 3) mixed EC of 5% chlorpyrifosmetyl and 2% diclorvos diluted to 10-fold (Ch-10). Both Pr-10 and Pr-15 functioned more rapidly than Fe-20 or Ch-10, and kept higher lethal effects than Fe-20. The lethal effect over 90% for Pr-15 was maintained for about 45 days, and those for Pr-10 and Ch-10 were nearly for three months. Hence, the propetamphos-dichlorovos mixture is excellent in the rapid effect, the lethal effect and the residual effect against the German cockroach.
