Abstract
The serum insulin level prior to and during oral glucose tolerance test and insulin antibody titer were determined in 250 diabetic subjects. The results were as follows; 1) After 100g glucose loading, 0-30min. _??_IRI/_??_BS value and 0-180min. _??_IRI/_??_BS value were calculated. 0-180min. _??_IRI/_??_BS value showed the more apparent correlation with glucose response capacity. 2) Serum IRI levels and _??_IRI/_??_BS values after glucose loading were low, especially in secondary diabetes, less than 150mg/dl FBS. 3) The obese group showed the same tendency as in secondary diabetes ;both vasal insulin levels and serum IRI levels after glucose loading were high. 4) Comparing among the same glucose response level cases, old-onset diabetes showed the higher serum IRI levels than in adult-onset diabetes. On the other hand, old-onset diabetes presented the lower basal insulin levels than in secondary diabetes. 5) In insulin antibody positive group, diabetic retinopathy and neuropathy were significantly found freqvently.
