Abstract

The worst state in learning is "not understanding what to do". This is a state in which the learner cannot think, and no learning has occurred. Because the learner cannot do anything, it is difficult for the teacher to help. Overcoming this state with system support is an important issue in modeling learning. The "state of not understanding what to do" can be interpreted as a state in which a "problem/thinking space" that can be explored by the learner has not been set up. It is important for learners and teachers to provide a "problem/exploration space" where learners can think about something and where they can be encouraged to learn something. In this paper, we will report on a learning environment developed by the authors, which is based on the " problem/exploration space " and how it supports overcoming the "state of not understanding what to do".
