Abstract
A metal bonded diamond wheel with boron doped diamond grits, which possess electrical conductivity and high oxidation temperature, was made for a trial purpose. In this research grinding of cemented carbide using the boron doped diamond grits wheel is performed and the grinding characteristics are compared with a conventional diamond grits (possessing similar friability) wheel. The results of the experiments show that the grinding resistance and the grinding wheel wear remain almost similar for both the wheels. Since the grinding characteristics of both the wheels remain the same, even though the boron doped diamond grits have a higher oxidation temperature, it can be said that contrary to the previous grinding results for glass material, thermochemical wear of the grinding wheel does not occur in grinding of cemented carbide.
