Abstract
In this study, the FEM analysis of the spindle systems with the double-face contact (DFC) and conventional 7/24 taper contact (BT) tooling system were carried out to clarify the bending stiffness in high-speed rotation. By the results, the followings were made clear. Since the DFC spindle suppresses the deflection at the flange portion of holder and the front part of spindle, the bending stiffness of the system is improved. The improvement of bending stiffness in high-speed rotation depends upon the nose-end gap, drawing force of holder and taper form error.
