By use of this unconditioned response, conditioned response was established when measurements of pressure sensitivity was done with and without side-pressure in series. The results are as follows: 1) The control series (M1•M2 series) which consists of some combinations of two measurements in control showed almost steady sensitivity. 2) The conditioned series (pM1•pM2 series) which consists of some combinations of two measurements with side-pressure showed the decrease of sensitivity to 20-30 per cent of the control value. And in the following test series (M1•M2 series) the sensitivity recovered gradually the control value. 3) In the conditioned series (M1•pM2 series) which consists of some combinations of two measurements without (M1) and with side-pressure (pM2), the sensitivity was nearly normal in M1, but in pM2 it decreased to 20-30 per cent of M1. Consequently, in this series each combination showed a pair of high-and-low sensitivity. In the following test series (M1•M2 series) the sensitivity decreased only in M2, and then gradually increased and reached the normal value. So the whole course of this test series showed a transition from the pattern of M1•pM2 series to that of M1•M2 series. 4) It was considered that these changes of pattern in the test series were due to establishment of conditioned response, in which the unconditioned stimulus is side-pressure, the conditioned stimulus is position of pM in a combination, and the conditioned response is reduction of pressure sensitivity. Reinforcement and extinction of the conditioned response was observed, and quasi-secondary reinforcement of the response was also found. 5) To establish this conditioned response, the pattern of measured results in the conditioned series must have a clear contrast. Consequently it is necessary to choose carefully time and condition of interval between one and other measurements, and to lessen the number of measurements forming a combination. 6) It is considered that this conditioned response has some extension in the central nervous system.
