Abstract

Neuropsychiatric disorders can be understood as a “system failure in the brain.” It is important to clarify the mechanisms underlying these disorders and develop prevention and treatment methods by performing studies on animal models that represent those disorders. These animals, including genetically modified mice, are subjected to advanced analytic methods ranging from molecular to behavioral levels. In this talk, I introduce the concept called intermediate phenotypes or endophenotypes of the disorders by using “immature dentate gyrus” as an example.
