Two classes of liquid scintillators are used for liquid scintillation counting : (1) toluene or xylenebased scintillators and, (2) emulsion liquid scintillators (ACS-2 and Aquasol-2) . Incorporation of emulsion liquid scintillators into toluene or xylenebased scintillators invariably leads to unhomogeneity of the system. The unhomogeneous scintillators are easy to store but are inefficient for incineration. They also affect liquid waste disposal.
We made test paper containing phosphoric acid for classification of liquid scintillators. Thus the disposal of toluene or xylene-based scintillators turn the test paper yellow.
Liquid scintillators will be facilitated by using this test paper.
