A rare experience of retroperitoneal lipoma is reported in the light of the related literature.
A 64-year-old female patient visited our hospital with the chief complaint of a distended lower abdomen in September 1989. The patient was diagnosed as having a retroperitoneal lipoma from ultrasonography, CT, barium enema, and angioraphy. On October 23, excision of the tumor was performed. The excised tumor was yellow, soft in elasticity, 28×19×5cm in size and 1300g in weight.
Histopathological findings showed a retroperitoneal lipoma with no malignancy.
