Two cases of emphysematous cholecystitis are reported together with a review of 81 cases of this disease in Japan.
Case 1 was a 93-year-old man complaining of right hypochondreal pain, vomiting, and fever, and case 2 a 70-year-old woman having recurrent nausea and vomiting. In these 2 cases, abdominal CT examination confirmed the presence of gas in the gallbladder.
