Venous hemangiomas of the liver are rare. A 55-year-old female was admitted to our hospital complaining of right hypochondralgia. Ultrasonography, CT, MRI and angiography were performed, and a hemangioma of the liver was strongly suspected. However, no typical imagings were revealed except the MRI imaging. Operation was performed, because a possible malignant tumor could not be denied. During surgery rapid histologic examination revealed a hemangioma of the liver and a partial resection of the liver was carried out. Finally, it was found as a venous hemangioma of the liver histologically.
Hemangioma of the liver is a most commonly found benign tumor of the liver. We should take notice of the existence of such tumor presenting no typical imagings in the diagnosis, where MRI imaging method is valuable.
