Abstract

This paper reports a series of actions to develop a new type channel stabilization structure for small and medium-sized rivers in Japan. At first, some types of overseas structure are shown with their characteristics. Secondly, fundamental shapes of channel stabilization structure which increase habitat heterogeneity are discussed on the basis of experimental results obtained in small-scale and large-scale movable bed experiments with test models. In latter experiment, three large scale models made by different materials are examined, it is confirmed that the surface roughness have effect distinctly on velocity profiles of passing flow.
