Abstract
We have established a specially designed approach to differential diagnosis and a new therapeutic method for the pain of“empty”or“fullness”sensation with an introduction of a traditional Chinese medicine in our pain clinic.
The following clinical results were obtained from the t herapy with use of acupuncture and/or nerve block at the pain clinic in Department of Anesthesiology since January to December in 1978.
1. The group of patie n ts which was determined to be necessary of combination therapy with acupuncture and nerve block was found to be satisfactorily effective in 34 cases among 38 patients.
2. The group o f 14 patients which was recognized to be sufficiently effective only by acupuncture treatment, was found to be all satisfactorily managed under our new therapeutic approach.
3. The therapeutic efficacy was significantly higher in both groups when the therapy was instituted in the early onset of disease.
4. After the treatment was conducted b y the new approach with acupuncture and nerve block, other various complains than pain disappeared insidiously.
