Abstract
Highly desired data concerning the intensity of sediment transport was obtained during the period from 1996 to 1997 using a hydrophone installed at the Hachisu-dani torrent in Mount Rokko. The analysis of the data clarified that the sediment discharge occured in a very short period of time immediately before the peak flow discharge. Most storms brought little amount of sediment. The largest storm, however, caused some amount of sediment. The resulting analysis suggested that the sediment discharge rate can be estimated using the hydrophone.
