Abstract

The measurements of the drape coefficient were carried out by the drape tracer built as a trial. The basic constructions of the drape tracer were three arms and three joints equipped with encorders. In this experiment, the fabrics are mainly used whose difference in flexural rigidity per weight, EI/w, between warp and weft directions is within 200. The drape area changed linearly with increasing the bending length, 3√EI/w. Also the drape coefficient showed similar to those of drape area. When the flexural rigidity per weight, EI/w of each fabrics was similar, drape coefficient, nean of deflection angle, and π number, each of them were obtained considerably similar values. On the other hand, when the flexural rigidity per weight, EI/w of each fabrics was different, the scale factor, k2 which was obtained from mean of deflection angle agreed well with the scale factor, k1 which was obtained from cantilever method.
