Abstract
For the basic study of automatic pattern making by draping, the method of making body unit models and preparing clothing patterns was examined using three dimensional and visual-image data of the form of male and female body units from a CCD camera. The form of the body units was measured by a range finder of coding pattern light. These processes of preparing basic patterns were as follows : noise reductions of three dimensional data of the body units by median filter, extracting 18 main and 198 constructive points of the pattern, and expressing a threedimensional body model and pattern making by surface development considering the shear characteristics of the fabrics. As a result, it was confirmed that a pattern can be prepared by our technique, even if there is a big difference between the forms of male and female body units. Interactive processing was used because the main points of the pattern were difficult to identify using automatic computer processing.
