This study aims at devising two new bibliometric indicators to evaluate academic impact and research performance. The bibliometric indicators proposed in this paper are formulated on the basis of the idea that a paper cited from other important paper is considered to be important. This study argues that the bibliometric indicators proposed here are more suitable for assessing academic impact of papers and research performance than others, and that we should use indicators appropriately, depending on what is measured.
