Copper are used was copper sulfide concentrate and enrichment cultures used were microoganisms bearing Matsuo mine, which is closed, and Yanahara mine in Japan. Energy source of cultivation was sulfur or ferrous sulfate.
The leaching of the copper are with So;-or Fe2+-enrichment culture was carried out under the condition of pH2 or less. Our result indicate:
1) For the selective bacterio leaching of CuFeS2, it is necessary to feed are particle with much oxygen and to control Eh value in the range from 0.6V to 0.7V.
2) In the bacterio leaching with feeding a little oxygen, the electrochemical leaching of CuFeS2 is decreased and FeS2 is leached. This phenomenon is explained on the basis of the following assumption; Oxygen is taken away from the surfaceof are by the Fe2+-enrichment culture.
