Abstract

The oceans are a large reservoir of carbon dioxide. Monitoring ocean carbon dioxide system is essential for predicting the future of global warming. There is also concern that absorbed carbon dioxide could acidify the oceans and affect the ecosystem. In recent years, carbon dioxide capture and storage (CCS) and other ocean-based projects have been under consideration, and demand for monitoring of carbon dioxide system in the ocean is increasing. High-precision colorimetric method for the determination of pH has been standardized internationally. However, there are issues with the availability of high-purity dye reagents and reference materials required for measurement.
