Abstract

We dyed Silk with Vegetable Dyes and then examined it in Extracted Dyes for Colou Fastness. In these experiments the dyes used were, Chlorophora tinctoria ; Haematoxylon capmpchianum L. and Caesalpinia Sappan L. The mordants used were aluminum acetate ; chromium acetate and pyrolignite of iron. In this study we will report on "Colour Fastness" in relation to four points ; Washing ; Rubbing ; Perspiration and Light. The results obtained are as follows : 1) Extracted Dyes have a better effect on silk than on cotton fabrics. 2) Colour Fastness is in the order of Haematoxylon capmpchianum L. ; Caesalpinia Sappan L. and Chlorophora tinctoria.
