Self-organization of a tail segment in bacteriophage T4 could be simulated by using our MFA (movable finite automaton) models consisting of a sphere with one or more BS's (bond sites). Each BS has a BSN function. An “emergence-like effect” as well as an allosteric effect was taken in the state transition function. It could be explained only by the emergence-like effect that a length of the tail is constant, and that the head is attached to an end of tail combined to the base plate before the fibers are attached to this base plate.
