In recent years, a distinct clinicopathological variant considered to be an expression of mycosis fungoides (MF) has been described, characterized clinically by protein follicular lesions and histopathologicallyby folliculotropic infiltrates but with minimal or no involvement of the overlying epidermis. In contrast to the well-known MF-associated follicular mucinosis variant, there is a striking absence of mucin deposition. We describe the clinical, histopathological and immuno-histochemical features of one case of this variant, for which we prefer the term pilotropic cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (pilotropic CTCL; pilotropic MF, follicular CTCL, follicular MF).
