Although ”kukini”-king's runner is the logo of the event, there are not so many Hawaiians running or hosting the Honolulu Marathon. However the marathon gives the impression to the residents that it is a community based event and Hawaiians are supporting it. Hawaiians let the event use kukini though they do not run but by doing so they use the tourism as a way to spread their culture. This study shows that the Honolulu Marathon means the historical and economical colonization to Hawaiians. Therefore they do not join the event as it is not their tradition but it also means their way of resisting the tourism.
