The rockfall protective soil embankment is said to be a rockfall countermeasure work with excellent workability and economy if the necessary space can be secured on the side of the road, but the performance design method has not yet been established. In this paper, we conducted a full scale weight-impact test of the rockfall protective soil embankment with a sand cushion in the pocket.And we examined the difference between cases in which the soil embankment could trap the rockfalls and those in which it could not trap. From the test, it was shown that the installation of sand cushion in the pockets increased the energy attenuation and suppressed the height of impact on the soil embankment, thereby improving the rockfall trapping performance.
