In order to establish a rational design procedure for the anchoring depth of the steel posts for rockfall-protection fences embedded into the rockfall-protection walls,proto-type drop-weight impact loading tests of the posts with varying anchoring depths in case of coupling between bending and shear actions were conducted. The re-sults obtained from this study were as follows: 1) maximum amplitude of force plateau may be able to estimate approximately by using the static fully plastic load; 2) when the anchoring depth of the posts is sufficient, damage to the concrete base near the post is insignificant; 3) when the anchoring depth is insufficient, rockfall-protection wall reaches ultimate state with punching shear failure mode; and 4) anchoring depth of the post may be required to take approximately 500 mm.
