For rational maintenance of corroded stiffeners on the supports, it is necessary to evaluate the residual load-carrying capacity. The evaluation of load-carrying capacity often employed finite element analysis or static loading tests. However, it is also necessary to evaluate the effect of the region and location of corrosion on the elastic buckling load. In this study, numerical analyses were conducted to estimate elastic buckling loads based on Euler buckling for beams with different sectional stiffnesses. The numerical analysis results were in good agreement with the results of the eigenvalue given by finite element analysis. Furthermore, numerical analysis was used to evaluate the effect of the region and location of the cross-sectional loss on the elastic buckling load.
