This study examined the mechanical characteristics of a ring girder structure, which has a circular arc-shaped planar shape and is composed of tension rings, compression rings, and beams (deck) connecting them. To understand the effects of tension ring position and stiffness on mechanical and vibration characteristics, static numerical analysis and time-history response analysis simulating walking vibration were conducted. The results showed that the displacement was smaller when the tension ring was located lower. In addition, it was shown that resonance occurs at the first and second natural frequencies in response to walking-induced vibrations, resulting in large response accelerations.
