Bridges, which serve to ensure lifelines, have been suffering damage from increasingly severe natural disasters and deterioration due to factors such as aging, resulting in numerous reports of bridges failing to fulfill their role and disrupting public economic activity. This report focuses on the many small and medium-sized bridges currently existing in Japan that are 15m or less in length, and proposes specific bridge plans for quickly restoring traffic. These include mitigating impacts through vehicle restrictions, using leased materials available on the market, and utilizing aluminum and wood. Furthermore, the report provides approximate erection times for steel girders and aluminum structures.
