Locomotion and settlement of the seed disc abalone produced artificially has been observed under water in order to know their behavior immediately after releasing them into the fishing ground.
1) Most of disc abalones released into the water fell on their backs to the bottom, then turned over and moved to their temporary habitats within one hour, both in the tank and in the fishing ground.
2) The abalones on their backs were attacked by carnivorous animals in the fishing ground.
3) Protecting seed disc abalones from such carnivorous animals was accomplished by keeping them lodged on oyster shells in a wire basket.
4) A large percentage of the injured seed disc abalones were killed by carnivorous animals such as small gastropods, crabs, star-fishes and fishes.
