Oxidation test using an air atmosphere electric furnace which is usually used for gaseous phase oxidation test was made verification.In this test,maximum error of weight loss by oxidation of carbon reached 30 percent when a space of samples was 30mm,It is inferred that a main cause of the error is distribution of oxygen concentration in the furnace.  We introduced a bottom rotating electric furnace to improve the gaseous phase oxidation test and tried it. As a result,error of weight loss was less than ± 1%.  Measured values of oxidation rate agreed well with a rate equation which was submitted by us,and it was cleared that oxidation rate of MgO-C bricks was dominated by laminar film and decarbonized layer.
