Abstract

When there is a dispersion source over the sea surface with stably stratified air layer, the dispersion process is developed over the sea surface during first stage gradually. After that, rapid dispersion would be observed over the land with unstable mixing layer in the clear daytime.
The modeling of the dispersion process is completed under the situation mentioned above. This model bases on mass continuity between a stable upper layer and mixing layer lying in the lower layer. We tried to describe the diffusion interacted to stable upper layer and unstable mixing layer.
The calculated concentration agreed with the observed value. Especially, the rapid increasing concentration distribution with downwind distance and horizonatl pattern agreed with the observation, pretty well.
We will be able to predict the concentration of pollutants easily under fumigation condition occasionally occurring on the coast zone in the daytime using this model.
