Abstract

For preparation of metal chloride- and alkali metal-graphite intercalation compounds (GICs), the two-zone method is usually employed. When the experiments are carried out, however, some difficulties should be considered: e. g. corrosive chlorine gas is essential to the two-zone reactor for the greater part of metal chloride-GICs and alkalimetals are reactive with atmospheric moisture. In this report we present some useful techniques for the effective andless dangerous preparation of metal chloride- and alkali metal-GICs.
