Unmanned Air System Traffic Management (UTM) is considered necessary to scale the use of UAS and Urban Air Mobility (UAM) around the world. Single European Sky ATM Research Joint Undertaking (SESAR) run multiple R&D projects to obtain knowledge for building blocks to enable UTM (they call U-Space and there are some differences of notion between UTM and U-Space). Based on SESAR's recent publication and the presentation at a workshop in Tokyo in November 2019, I discuss what we can learn from them to enable UTM in Japan.
