Abstract
The production of cantharidin nephritis was tried in rabbits of different liver power of ammonia detoxication. Only b- (low) and f-(high) classed animals were used. The same amount of the poison per kilo of body weight was fatal to the low-classed rabbits, while the f-classed animals outlived the poisoning in most cases (Cf. Table I and Table II). This striking difference was seen not only in their fate, but also did these two kinds of animals show a different bearing in the point of blood chemistry. Blood urea showed a steady increase in the b-classed rabbits until their death, while in the f-classed ones the figure of blood urea did not show a very remarkable change (Cf. Fig. 1).
