In the non-fastened, non-anesthetized, normal dogs the minimum effective dose of adrenaline was determined for raising the arterial blood pressure and the blood sugar content, on infusing the hormone into a vein during ten minutes at the uniform rate.
It is 0.0003-0.0004mg. per kg. of body weight and per minute for both phenomena, the pressure and sugar as well. The bradycardia is a common occurrence, but if shiverings occur, the heart beats, as a rule, more quickly instead of becoming slower.
When dogs were emaciated because of skin disease the effects of adrenaline appeared definitely weaker in comparison with healthy individuals.
