The rate of mechanical vibrator clock varies with the elasticity of the base on which the clock is placed. This phenomenon is analyzed here theoretically. As the result of this analysis, it is found that the rate of the clock changes discretely when the natural frequency of the base coincides with that of the mechanical vibrator. The natural frequency of the base is introduced in this case as a measure of elasticity of the base. Such a discrete rate change is most predominant among all the rate changes caused by the elasticity of the base. The analysis is also tried on the clock equipped with suspension spring bet-ween the mechanical vibrator and the clock case. The discrete change of the rate is represented by a simple formulae which snows that the suspension spring is very effective to diminish the amount of the discrete rate change. Theoretical results as above - mentioned are confirmed by the experiment made with an equipment whicn represents the models of the mechanical vibrator clock and the base.
