Economic Ripple Effect of International Air Cargos via Chubu International Airport (Centrair) by Input-Output Analysis

Abstract

Since the opening of the Chubu International Airport (Centrair), it has made a substantial contribution to Chubu-region. To analyze effects of the international air cargos including not only transport costs but also intermediate goods purchase for exports, input-output analysis applies into Chubu-region multi-regional I-O table. As a result, the effect of the cargos using Centrair is bigger than the effect of the passengers. In addition, the half of effects are caused by Chubu-region, which has more effects compared to the case of passengers using Centrair. Centrair has significant contribution to logistics for manufacturing in Chubu-region through international air cargo services.
