We have developed a new type multi channel digital audio tape recorder using half inch cassette tape. This system can offer 2.7 hours recording capability of 8-channel/ 20kHz audio signal at normal sampling mode and 4-channel/ 40kHz audio signal at high sampling mode, as well as synchronization function with other units including video/ film equipments. This paper discusses the system design, signal processing and its performance.
