Abstract
Authors report the results of tank test carried out with the single supertanker model and high speed cargo boat model equipped with 4, 5 and 6-bladed propellers which are designed under the same design conditions. From the test, they find that the self-propulsion factors are scarecely affected by number of blabes, and the differences in propulsive efficiency with different propellers are mainly depend on the differences in hull efficiency and propeller efficiency due to the propeller size. And, they calculate the bearing forces for various combinations of the model and propellers using Dr. Kumai's approximate method.
