1) Dehydrobromination of 2, 6-dibromo-4, 4-dimethylcyclohexanone with sodium acetate gave 4, 4-dimethyl-2-acetoxy-Δ2-cyclohexenone and 4, 4-dimethylcyclohexadione (1, 2).
2) Dehydrobromination of 2, 6-dibromo-4, 4-dimethylcyclohexanone with quinoline gave 4, 4-dimethylcyclohexadienone, 2-bromo-4, 4-dimethyl-Δ2-cyclohexenone, and 1, 2-dimethyl-4-hydroxybenzene.
3) The position of bromine atoms in 2, 6-dibromo-4, 4-dimethylcyclohexanone was discussed.
