抄録

Arylthio compounds from 3-amino-6-chloro-2-pyridinethiol were prepared and conditions for the Smiles rearrangement in pyridine derivatives were examined. It was found that the reaction was more easily effected than in benzene derivatives and this was assumed to be the additive effect of ring nitrogen and chlorine in 6-position of the pyridine ring.
Azaphenothiazine derivatives were synthesized by the application of this Smiles rearrangement and the possibility of this ring formation was found to be easily understood by the hypothesis of a chelate ring forwarded by Brady and others in connection with phenoxazine-ring formation.
